We're looking for a Super Resident Engagement & Liaison Manager

  • Reports to: Executive Director
  • Location: Flexible (home-based working). Role will require travel in the UK
  • Contract: Contract  2-3 days per week, £300 - 350/day depending on experience. Fixed term contract until 30 September 2025 initially
  • Start date: Immediate  start available
  • End date: 30 September 2025.

The role

Are you an excellent communicator – and listener? Would you like to help us revolutionise social housing resident engagement with retrofit?

We are looking for a Super Resident Engagement and Liaison Manager who can help us test a groundbreaking new resident engagement process and develop the right approach, toolkit and networks to deploy it at scale.

Energiesprong UK is a team of independent retrofit experts that collaborates with partners to create new approaches for home energy refurbishment at scale. Our mission is for every UK home to be desirable, comfortable, affordable and fit for 2050 net-zero standards.

This role is part of our Innovate UK funded Transform-ER (Transform. Engage. Retrofit) project, which is creating a new retrofit delivery vehicle to help create scalable programmes of home energy refurbishment work and provide stakeholders with the tools which are needed to deliver these in an efficient and consistent way.

We also recognise that every home and every household will have differentiating needs, and that offering a ‘one size fits all’ approach to resident engagement will not work for something which is so personal.

We have drafted a new process which is intended to provide residents with agency and choice.  We believe that by creating a process which works for residents, and providing the right information at the right time, we will see better engagement and adoption of retrofit projects.

We would like to make selecting a retrofit feel more like choosing a new kitchen; both for residents and social housing organisations.  Clarity and consistency of repeatable solutions, and the process by which this information is shared are the areas we are focusing on to make this change, alongside developing compelling narrative about the benefits.

We are supported by a team of partners, and sub-contractors which include user experience experts, data and software developers, retrofit design and construction professionals, collaboration experts and comms and marketing.

Our aim is that the successful candidate can create a long-term role within the new system which results from our project.  Therefore, we are offering the post as a temporary contract until September 2025, with potential to extend either within ESUK or under a new company which may launch by the end of the project.

Core Activities

The core activities of this role will include (but is not limited to):

  • Developing and rolling out a process of engaging end users of the new retrofit delivery vehicle (ie residents) on how a new system of resident engagement may work for them and use this feedback to further develop an approach to engagement which meets the project objectives.  This will include organising and running resident engagement events, presenting to focus groups, creating content and delivering sessions, and analysing results
  • Engaging with residents and other stakeholders to create and test proposals for what information is needed for residents based on their user needs
  • Engaging frontline delivery teams working on retrofit projects to understand what tools are needed to help them create a consistent and high-quality resident engagement journey
  • Developing a toolkit of centralised resources which can be used to support resident liaison in line with the new system
  • Creating and proposing a resource plan for supporting resident engagement across a programme of works, linked to the project scaling plan.

Person Specification

Energiesprong UK is working to transform the retrofit sector by working with partners to catalyse new approaches to home energy refurbishment at scale. This is only possible if our team shares a clear vision and can act boldly using unconventional approaches to shift the status quo.

This means that, while we are looking for expert knowledge, a clear sense of direction is more important. The role therefore requires a ‘can-do’ attitude; lateral thinking; creativity in finding new approaches for what may seem impossible challenges. The ability to move quickly and execute decisions is key, as is drive for the objectives of Energiesprong.

Key requirements of the role:

  • Significant experience of engaging with people in a variety of roles
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of communicating complicated issues in a simple way
  • Ability to analyse feedback and use this to create new ideas
  • Happy to work without close management – self-starter
  • Happy to work remotely, and to travel to work in person where needed
  • Knowledge and experience of working with social housing organisations
  • Knowledge of asset management / construction / energy / retrofit.

Applicants meeting most of the criteria will be considered if they have the right experience and approach.
