Emily Braham

Head of strategy and operations

I use my experience of delivering some of the UK’s largest and most innovative retrofit projects to help us achieve our ambitious mission of scaling the market, so every home is fit for 2050.

What I do at Energiesprong UK

I’m responsible for our strategic direction – but as part of a small team, this includes hands-on project delivery too! I help our partners with tailored support, work with policymakers to influence change and foster collaboration between industry stakeholders.

With more than 16 years’ experience in the social housing sector, I have an in-depth understanding of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to delivering retrofit projects at scale. I also know what the systemic barriers are and realise the value of collective action and creative thinking to tackle them.

I lead on securing funding bids as well, including our exciting new 18-month Transform-ER project that aims to revolutionise the retrofit industry to enable 1 million home upgrades every year by 2030.

I was also Programme Director for our ambitious European-wide Mustbe0 project, bringing together market development teams from four countries to kick-start a market for net zero multi-storey buildings.

What I did before Energiesprong UK

As Head of Energy at Nottingham City Homes, I led on developing retrofit strategy and delivery of award-winning projects. This includes the largest neighbourhood-based, cross-tenure solid wall insulation scheme, the REMOURBAN lighthouse City Horizon 2020 project and the first Energiesprong project in the UK.

I’ve further supported this expertise with an MSc in area based retrofit and a CIOB BA Hons 1st in Design, Development and Regeneration.

I was non-exec Director for the Retrofit Academy until Sept 24.  I’ve also held non-exec Director roles at Efficiency East Midlands procurement organisation, MOZES community energy and Sustainable Homes.

My biggest achievement

I was Head of Energy at Nottingham City Homes while we worked with Energiesprong UK to deliver the first Energiesprong pilot in Nottingham. This award-winning scheme has gone on to inspire 100s of homes being completed in the UK.
