My role at ESUK involves analysing building stock to identify projects suitable for high-performance net-zero retrofits. I develop tools and guidance to support social landlords, construction companies, and partners in planning and delivering retrofit and new build projects.
I also provide support with the technical elements of project delivery, including business case development, project planning, procurement, stakeholder & resident engagement, build programme delivery, monitoring and evaluation.
My introduction to the sustainability sector was through an internship with EnginSoft UK, where I was involved in a water management project focused on the combined sewer flows and catchment areas in an Italian town.
I then moved into a MSc course in Environmental Consultancy where I further refined my skills in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and data analysis, as well as my knowledge of the sustainability industry.
As a part of my masters, I completed a carbon accounting placement with the Estates and Facilities department at UWE Bristol. This involved an exciting new project: calculating the carbon footprint of taught modules. I was responsible for the retrieval and analysis of data from a variety of academic departments, as well as apportionment of the impact of professional services and general university operations.
I played a key role in developing the methodologies for mapping the carbon impact of taught modules at UWE Bristol, thereby helping them to reach their net zero target of 2030.
